The Bees

This hive contains approximately 5, 000 stingless bees (also known as sugarbag bees) of the species Tetragonula carbonaria. This species is endemic to parts of the NSW and QLD coastline. These bees have been duplicated within the general Sydney region for many years, meaning that they are very much suited to the local climate. These bees are perfect for backyards, schools, nursing homes, day care centres, community gardens, and more. Bush Bees are docile, harmless, effective pollinators of a wide range of plants, and they produce a small amount of delicious honey that you may be able to taste a few years down the track!

The Box

The box consists of a simple but effective marine ply design that includes an observation window, allowing you to occaisionally check up on the progress of the bees. This box is surrounded by a foam insulation box, shielding the bees from the harsher weather that they may experience. The box is a two-part, splittable hive. It does not come with a honey super.
